Listening back to this, it sounds to me like i'm trying to channel The Soft Bulletin era Flaming Lips somehow - not sure if that's how it will sound to anyone else... Makes sense as the title is somewhat reminiscent of "The Big Ol’ Bug Is the New Baby Now" off Zaireeka. (Come to think of it, I can't remember that song very well so I hope I haven't unintentionally been "inspired" any more than the title!)
lyrics
Did you ever wonder
If it's ever too soon to cry?
Are you sitting waiting?
Or do your dreams still fly?
Did you get perspective
As the days and weeks flew by?
Life is never like that
No matter how we try
Only love is real
Realer than me
Only love is real
We're the new gods now.
Life is like a river
You see it passing day by day
Someday it will take us
Take us all the way
When you're left with nothing
There's no more that they can make you pay
We can build a castle
Anywhere we lay
Only love is real
Realer than me
Only love is real
We're the new gods now.
Aah!
We are only servants
Servants, servers, serfs or waifs and strays
Serving many masters
Till our dyin' days
Oh to be a master
To be a captain or a king
Ever is the burden
That the power brings
We're the new gods now.
