Lyrically evasive as ever, I wanted to do a synthy-sounding "Driving Home for Christmas" kind of thing. It was meant to have a similar emotional palette to "She's Leaving Home" but in reverse. I'm not suggesting it is anywhere near as enjoyable as either of those songs!
The vocal take is particularly rough in my view, but I think it is enough to get the idea across.
It is a bit long, but I wanted all the bits that are there so I didn't have much choice.
lyrics
He's coming home - memory unwinds
Between white lines
They lead him home - but he's in two minds
Try to be kind
Lonely Nights - if by your lonely lights
You don't see anybody
cry don't feel any pain
You won't ever regret
again
He's nearly here - tries to fight his eyes
The longest ride
He'll sleep tonight - so open the door wide
dragged in by the tide
Lonely Nights - if by your lovely lights
Take me away in time
And now he's home
Never recognised
Lonely
Lonely Nights - if by your lovely lights
if by your
Lonely Nights - if by your lonely lights
Lonely Lights
