I'm not sure what this is, in genre terms, but I was going for some Paul MacCartney style granny music. Not sure I got even slightly close, but it was fun trying. Actually, on reflection, maybe I was going for a kind of "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness B-sides box" kind of vibe. There are some great melancholy oddities on there - Meladori Magpie, anyone?
lyrics
You wrote me that letter
I wrote you one too
And when the wind had changed
I knew
It's not getting better
And everything's blue
Now the birds won't sing
I'm through
They were calling for you
They were calling for you
I hoped it was me
But how can that be
When you were the string and the glue
I'm stuck in the gutter
Enjoying the view
But when I looked you up
My friends all stuck with you
Now my phone don't ring
I see - it's true:
They were callin' for you
They were callin' for you
I know I'm a bum
But boy was I dumb
For doin' those things to you
I was callin' for you
I was callin' for you
It must have me
But how can that be
But who could compare to you?
